Hi and hello! My name is Patrick Dailey and I’d like to welcome you to the first blog of Dailey Life.
If this is your first time here then I would like to warmly welcome you to this blog.
This is my own personal project that I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time and people have always said that I have a really great way of communicating with people, and I wanted to turn it into a desire to help people. That is my goal; to help people grow and be empowered; to be equipped to be the best version of themselves. And I know that, that’s a very broad stroke of what this blog is about, but overtime, it will grow and evolve and become something where you’ll have a community of people, which is the basis of this blog. No matter who you are or where you’re at, I really hope that this will inspire you, even just a little bit.
To start off the blog, I just wanted to say that right now is the beginning of January 2022 and it has been a wild ride going from 2020, or even 2021, to where we are now. We’ve had a rise of COVID cases and a lot of political unrest and divide that has been happening in the United States. If you’re reading from another country, from what I understand, there is also a political divide that’s happening around the world and it is something that is very unprecedented and discouraging.
With so much negativity that’s happening in this world, with so much going on, we need to have voices of hope, inspiration and encouragement. To have some sort of open dialog to have inspiration for people to listen to because, let’s face it, there’s so much going on. We can go on and on about the negativity that the mainstream media portrays, COVID, and the pandemic, like the Omicron variant, the Delta variant, and the original variant, whatever the name for that is.
There’s just so much going on where it seems as though the world is going through an entire change, like a metamorphosis, if you will. It’s like this transition from what the world used to be to what it is now, and I know there are a lot of people who don’t agree with the transitions that are happening. I, myself, have had a lot of difficulties with transitioning to working from home and setting up a home office.
I know a lot of us have had to adjust with COVID and even with that, there has been a lot of societal changes, like people having to carry vaccine passports everywhere, and having to wear masks, and I don’t want this entire blog to be about COVID, but I’m saying all of this because there are a lot of changes that are happening and it’s causing a lot of uncertainty for people. It’s caused a lot of questions that are going on about life or questions like,
“How am I supposed to live?”
And it’s almost as though we’re in this fog or dark season and we know that in life, there are going to be moments where we have these dark seasons where we’re going to be in valleys, I’m sure many of you have heard that there always hills and there are always valleys, which means that there’s always going to be good and bad in life, and for some of us, there will be better, and for some, worse.
The thing that we have to remember is that there are moments in life that we will face that will make us struggle and suffer, but with all of that, there’s always a hope that exists within us that it’s going to be a better day or a new life.
The world is a very crazy place and I know this blog could be entirely about all of the negativity out there, but I really hope that you will have hope in your life, no matter what you’re going through, what your background is, who you are as an individual, or who you are as a person.
I really hope that you will understand that there is always going to be hope in who you are, and to me, that’s very encouraging.
People need encouragement and granted; we’re not always going to talk about the positive. Certainly, we can talk about the negative, but there has to be a fine balance between the two; positive and negative; the good and the bad; the light and darkness.
I feel like the world that we live in has more negativity than positivity. There are more social media posts that are bad than there are about good things. Some people would say that while there are more bad things going on in the world, I tend to agree with that, but that doesn’t mean that you should only focus on the negative. You should change the hope for a better day, new life or greater future. When you think about it right now, we’re in this season of winter, where the temperature is getting colder and storms are happening.
Right now, where I live, there is so much rainstorm and so much rain, and even flooding, that’s been happening. And I know that it’s just where I live, but in winter, we associate coldness with death or we think of things that are frozen.
And speaking of, I am a Christian. I’ve been a Christian most of my life and sure in time, you’ll hear more about my story of becoming a believer in Christ to being a follower of Christ. But as a Christian, I do identify as one who follows in the footsteps of Christ and someone who reads the word of God. Granted, I don’t know everything and for those of you who are reading, who are not Christian, you may say,
“You know what? I’m turned off by that.”
And that is totally fine. I hope to share my experience with you on this and tell stories as well. Now with that, you can find it in the Bible. There are a lot of passages that are wise and have a lot of depth to it. It’s like you’re reading any sort of book, for those who are not Christian, and look at it as a book where you can find many passages of inspiration and wisdom, even ways to help improve your life, and with that, I’m reminded of this verse in the Bible that says,
“For everything there is a season, A time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
I think that it’s a very powerful verse that we can implement. You don’t have to be Christian to understand that it is a part of the world that we live in today.
If you think about it, most of us live in a place where there’s four seasons; fall, winter, spring; summer, and the cycle goes on, which is very interesting when you think about it.
In my first book, Living Out Your God-Given Potential, I mention that we have an appointed time to live here on Earth. This time here on earth is to be lived and experienced. What are you going to do with the time that you have in this life?
All there is to say is that there are going to be seasons in your life and when you’re looking at the seasons of the Earth, the Earth is rotating around the Sun and as the position of the Earth is different from different times of the year, so you too will have different seasons in your life. There are going to be good and bad seasons; high and low points; sad and angry points; or different emotions that can happen, and what we need to do, no matter who you are, is to observe, analyze and look at what’s happening in our life. We can always think about how we, as people, can respond to what life is bringing us because as a firm believer, to be here on Earth is to understand that we are to experience life with the good and the bad. We need to analyze what’s going on and observe to be able to learn and experience lessons that happen.
From all the lessons that we do learn, maybe it’s lessons you learned from me, your friend, your sibling, your family member or whoever it is, is an opportunity for you to share with other people, and I think that it’s a very beautiful thing that we pass on the knowledge or the wisdom that we have learned may be implemented in our lives, or maybe not. Maybe we’re learning something we shouldn’t do, like when you’re dating, you learn who you don’t like or learn who you don’t want to associate with. We live life and we learn from it. I’m learning to know what kind of person I am.
We are to observe what goes on in this world and in our own lives. We may learn from other people, professors, teachers, pastors, or spiritual leaders so that we can improve our lives and make the world a better place.
I have a friend who is an atheist, and something that he always tells me, which is very fascinating, is that he gets great joy out of teaching people what he has learned and he believes that a fulfilling life is one where you teach other people of your knowledge or experience that you had, and I thought that it was very interesting because he identifies as an atheist, so he doesn’t believe in God or the possibility of God, but it doesn’t matter if you’re an atheist, a Buddhist, a Christian, or a Jew, I think that it’s a very good point to learn the things that we experience in our life, and share with other people. I think that there is something that’s incredibly powerful with that, so when you’re going through a good or a bad season, consider sharing that experience with others because the thing is, when you’re going through a rough patch, you’re going to have that authenticity or genuineness when sharing with other people, and if you find people that are actually willing to help you, they will share their own experience.
Let’s say that you had a family member that just passed away and you’re talking with other people, saying,
“I lost my uncle.”
Or
“I lost my aunt.”
Or whoever.
There will be people who may have gone through the same experience as you are going through and they can encourage you and help you cope. I’m not saying that they’re going to solve your problems, but they can help you through the process, and with that, you can also help others.
That is one of the reasons why I wanted to start this blog, and it’s to share the experiences that I’ve learned. I’m not charging anything for this information, but I hope to get monetized one day and make a little bit, but the reality is, it’s more important to be real with people who are reading because life is so short and though it is a sad reality, it is the reason why we should make the best of our life and the best of what we have here in the time that is being allotted.
I know I’m going really deep into this, but there’s just something about this idea of light and darkness, and when we’re talking about seasons in life, we encourage each other. You might be able to reach out to someone who you couldn’t reach out to, by extending love and grace to others and by being a listening ear.
Going back to the past couple of years, I can go on and on about the history of the world, but I’m not going to go through that in this blog. It’s just crazy to see how much has changed in this world, and how much my own life changed. I’ve told people before that I feel with COVID going on, it was as though a pause button was pushed and people just stopped everything to think and consider what is going on in their lives, and now that we’re entering this brand-new year, we don’t have any ideas on what this new year is going to be like. Honestly, I felt the same way about 2021. I didn’t know the scope of what was going on, but I’m here to tell you guys that no matter what this year is going to bring, let us learn to respond to what life is going to throw at us.
When we think about things that happen in our own lives, we have to realize that life will throw us so many situations; good, bad and ugly, and we have to think as human beings that when something happens to you, what are you going to do? What conscious decision are you going to make? Because that is something that I fully believe in.
I believe that we have been placed on Earth with this body and mind to make decisions and choices on how we are going to live and conduct our life. I do believe that each and every person wants to make the most of this life, so I want to encourage you to make the best of what you have.
So many people can’t begin because, apparently, they need a new car, a six pack, or a nice house before you start. You can start right now, whatever that goal is. This is to help encourage you to be more aware that you can go after your goals, no matter what it is you have. It’s like a snowball, right? Like once you get the ball rolling, you can get momentum for the ball to keep rolling. People will help you attain any sort of goal that you have, all you have to do is to keep going, keep moving forward and not stop. Never give up and find people who will support you, because when you’re in this life with a goal, there will be people who will support you and not. So, find those people who will support and encourage you to do better.
2022 is something.
Last year or two, in the year 2021 and 2020, a lot of things happened and in life, there are going to be situations where things are going to happen that are beyond our control, but what we have to do is make a decision for our mind and body that feels right to be able to move forward as a person.
I’d like to tell you guys a story. There was a time where I had this conversation with a previous employer that wasn’t going to work there anymore, which really hurt me. Certainly, anyone who is going to get fired or lose a job is going to feel hurt, and I’m not denying that. When bad things happen to you, you’re going to feel it. That’s human nature. To feel those emotions, to get angry. Then there are other times when you feel sad for something, that is perfectly natural, I mean, what can you do when you feel those emotions? So, when I was told that I was going to no longer work at my previous job, it really hit hard, but I had to take this as an opportunity to move and do something better. So, I began the process of searching and finding a way. I wasn’t going to stop at anything to find the right timing.
For me, like I said, I am a Christian, that was the time for me to pray to God and say,
“Look, God, this bad thing happened. Give me the wisdom, the knowledge, the opportunity. I will do the work. I will do everything within my power to find a new job, but all I ask is that you help me along with it.”
It reminds me a verse,
“The heart of a man plans his ways, but God will guide his steps.” – Proverbs, 16:9
Something that I love about that saying is that we have to do something and God will guide us as we go, but we have to do the planning, even though it may seem challenging. One version says that we may make our own plans, but the Lord will decide where we go. So, it’s like this two-sided coin. There are two parts for you to choose, but there are so many people who will say,
“I’ll be taken care of.” “I don’t have to do anything.”
No, you have to do something and put your trust in God. Trust in the higher power, the divine, and if you do, it will lead you and guide you to the right situation in the right circumstance.
So that is what I did. I didn’t know the outcome for what’s going to happen to me. I may be in a poor house, go broke, or go bankrupt, but I have mouths to feed and a wife to take care of. I will find a way, even if it means that I do go bankrupt. I won’t give up. I will keep going and it may even hurt, but I will find a way.
That’s when I had another opportunity to come to the point where the transition of letting go of the previous job and the beginning of this new job worked perfectly, where it didn’t have any financial strain on my family.
Now some people will say that it was just a coincidence. It if is, then so be it, but I do believe that it was God watching my back and part of that was me doing the action. Another part was trusting in something, in God, who is higher than myself, knowing that he will take care of me, no matter what happens to me.
So, with that, we’re going to talk about a lot of different topics in this blog. We’re going to talk about the emotional, spiritual, current events, good and bad things happening to the world, physical and professional.
I am going to share stories.
As time goes on, the trajectory of this blog will certainly change overtime. There’s a lot that can happen and I am open to that. Part of what I’m trying to do is, like I said, to get this blog going and to help people. To talk about things that are going on, to be a light in the darkness, to be a beacon of hope, because there are so many people who only focus on the negative and they don’t think about any of the good. What a challenge it must be to only focus on the negative and never focus on the good.
Most of the things on TV and social media are negative and when people are talking about conspiracy theories, it’s always bad. Like, there is a conspiracy that’s going on and behind the scenes, it’s going to bring you down or when you’re watching regular mainstream news, there are people that are bashing and saying things like,
“Look at the death toll.” “Look how bad things are.” “It’s getting worse.”
It’s hard and will wear anyone down. So, this is where you have to analyze your own current situation and observe what’s going on in your life, be aware and move from that state of darkness and move into light. It’s just like how we’re spiritual and emotional beings. We are housed in this body and were given this body at birth, so we have to take care of this body. We have to take care of our mind, heart, and spirit. There’s so much that we had to do, like it’s a big responsibility.
Earlier, I mentioned how there are many things that are happening outside and we have no control over it. One of the crazy things that people, including myself, do is that they try to control things that are completely out of their control. I cannot control what another person does, though I can try and people may try to control me by giving me dirty looks and they want their emotions to affect me and bring me down.
We should be empowered. Take ownership and responsibility of our life to the best of our ability. We know a lot of people in different circumstances. They are in a different trajectory in their life; different position; different life stage. My life is different from the next person and considering this, I have a friend of mine who is single and never married. He only has his girlfriend, which is totally fine. We’re practically the same age, but one variable, one piece of the puzzle is different. One guy who has a girlfriend, but never married nor has children, compared to me, who’s married. I am a married man with five children. We are two people, good friends at that, but and the end of it all, we are different people, different circumstance, and different environment.
So that alone is not the only factor, but also in personality, goals, ambitions and experiences, and that’s just one scenario.
There are so many people who don’t know who you are, who’s reading this, your experiences, what you’ve been through, your perspective on things, and I think that’s something that’s interesting because we still need to do the best we can to have our own experiences, for us to grow and continue to be on a path of empowerment, where we are becoming the best version of ourselves.
It may seem tedious to continuously grow, but never stop learning and growing. What works for you may not work for me and vice versa.
There was a time in my life, a couple of years ago, where I was reading books and taking so many courses. I just looked at my good reads profile and saw how many books I read compared to the previous couple of years and it was just half the amount because I was growing busy. I was taking on more projects and became more productive, even though I wasn’t reading as much as I used to.
We have different perspectives and experiences. Different things can happen to us but we must remember that when life is throwing something towards you, respond to it. Think of what you’re going to do when something happens to you. It’s like when someone says something that is hurtful and mean, are you going to let their words get through and destroy you? Though they shouldn’t be doing that at all, I’m not condoning people hurting people.
The ball is in your court, what are you going to do? Consider what you are saying to yourself internally. Consider this thought process:
“You know what? No matter what you say, you’re not going to hurt me. No matter what you do, you’re not going to change who I am.”
And I think that’s something very powerful and hard to do. Though it takes a lot of practice, it can be done.
So, when we’re thinking about winter, there is an idea of darkness. Like I mentioned earlier, things that are frozen and cold. And at the end of the season, I think of an image of a Phoenix. It talks about how there’s death and ashes that becomes a young Phoenix, and that’s something that’s always so inspiring to me. When there’s death, there will be life. It’s like a continuous circle that is happening, and something to be reminded of is when considering winter, it’s the end of one thing, and the beginning of another. That’s something I want you to think about.
In the coming weeks, we’re going to be covering a lot of different topics and will be talking about darkness, solitude, being with other people, finding your tribe, finding your community, rebirth, personal responsibility, observation and analyzing your life. We are going to go more in-depth with that and we’re going to go over different things as well.
When you’re thinking about this month of January, I want you to think about new beginnings. When there is death, there will be life. Think of it as the Lion King when you’re thinking about the circle of life. There is something to look forward to, even though there is death, there is a beginning. There’s an end, there’s a beginning. There’s death, there will be life.
Let’s reflect on that. Let’s really think about the new beginnings.
2021 and 2020 is over, and I know there’s going to be a lot of people who’s going to say,
“Well, look, dude, 2022 is just going to be an extension of what’s been going on.”
And it may very well be, but don’t look at it that way. Make the best of your ability, your life, your gifts, your skills, your abilities, your talents, your brain, your mind, your heart, your soul, and your very being.
Make the best of it.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Those are my encouraging words that I have for you today. I hope this first blog will inspire you to the point that you share and spread the word on this. This being the first blog, I’m planning on having one blog every week to be launched on Friday.
So, I’d like to start the week off with one blog that will vary your reading time from a few minutes to an hour, depending on what we will be discussing. We’ll see what happens and how this performs to see if there are changes that need to be done.
Just remember that when there is darkness, there is light, and when there’s death, there is life. Don’t fret so much at the end of 2021.
In closing, I will tell you a story. When my wife and I were getting coffee, we heard a homeless man say some powerful words. Remember, wisdom can be spoken from anyone at anytime. This is why you should be mindful of what you experience in this life, you may learn something great.
“Don’t look at your life in the rearview mirror.”
I thought that it was very powerful because it means to don’t look back, just look forward because when you’re driving, you have to look forward. Certainly, you’ve got to look back ever so often to see what or who is behind you when you’re backing up, but more often than not, most of the time, you have to focus on the road ahead, the path that is in front of you.
You have to look forward, don’t look back, because if you’re looking back, how can you move forward? That was a hard one.
We learn from the past, but that’s all gone. Today is the present moment, and that’s what we have here and now. We look forward to the future and how we get to the future to what we want in life. What we do today by taking ownership, responsibility, empowerment, we are living our best life by doing the best we can with what we have.
This is the first blog of Dailey life. Thank you so much for reading. I hope that your life has been inspired, encouraged and empowered,
Even just a little bit.
